An assistant professor of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations at the University of Toronto, Timothy P. Harrison (“Rabbath of the Ammonites”) has written numerous scholarly articles dealing with the archaeology of Jordan. Since 1996, he has also directed the Tell Madaba Archaeological Project.
Alastair Northedge (“Philadelphia of the Decapolis”), who teaches at the University of Paris, is the editor of Studies on Roman and Islamic Amman. The Excavations of Mrs. C.-M. Bennett and Other Investigations. Vol. 1: History, Site and Architecture (The British Academy and the British Institute at Amman for Archaeology and History, 1993).

Folklorist Adrienne Mayor (“Sea Monsters and Other Ancient Beasts”), author of The First Fossil Hunters: Paleontology in Greek and Roman Times (Princeton, 2000), is now working on a book examining fossil legends and discoveries in the New World.
