Archaeology Odyssey

Author of The Goddess and the Bull (Free Press, 2005), Michael Balter (“Catalhoyuk: How a Flamboyant Englishman Found the World’s Largest Stone Age Village”) has served as the Paris correspondent for Science since 1991. He is now the magazine’s chief archaeology writer.

Shahina Farid (“Catalhoyuk: Modern Excavations”) is site director and project coordinator for the Catalhoyuk Research Project based at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research at the University of Cambridge, in England. She has been excavating the Neolithic site for the past ten years.

A Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art History at the University of Southern California and a gallery teacher at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, Linda Ann Nolan (“Emulating Augustus”) has excavated at Pompeii and in the Roman Forum.
