Curt Leviant (“Parallel Lives”) has written 18 books, including Masterpieces of Hebrew Literature: A Treasury of 2000 Years of Jewish Creativity (Ktav); more than a dozen volumes of translations from Yiddish of the works of Sholom Aleichem, Chaim Grade and Avraham Reisen; and three critically acclaimed novels.

Ben Zion Wacholder (“Teacher of Righteousness”) is the Solomon Freehof Professor Emeritus of Jewish Law at Hebrew Union College. The author of The Dawn of Qumran (Hebrew Union College), Wacholder played a critical role in making the Dead Sea Scrolls accessible to everyone. Working with a concordance list of words found in the scrolls, he and a doctoral student, Martin Abegg, were able to reconstruct the text of hundreds of scroll fragments, which the Biblical Archaeology Society published as A Preliminary Edition of the Unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls.

A professor of New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary, in Wilmore, Ky., Ben Witherington III (“Laying Down the Law”) is the author of several books, including, most recently, The Paul Quest (InterVarsity Press). The April 1997 BR presented a heated debate between Witherington and Robert Miller: “Battling Over the Jesus Seminar.”
