Jonathan Klawans (“Was Jesus’ Last Supper a Seder?”) is an assistant professor of religion at Boston University. He is the author of Impurity and Sin in Ancient Judaism (Oxford Univ. Press, 2000), which recently received the Salo Wittmayer Baron Prize for the best first book in Jewish studies.

Sociologist David L. Sills (“What’s in a Name?”) is executive associate of the Social Science Research Council. The editor of the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences, Sills recently published Sea History, which examines the evolution of the tangled-anchor symbol from early Christianity to modern yacht clubs.
