With degrees in both theology and law, David T. Ball (“Render unto Caesar”) teaches courses on interprofessional ethics, law and theology at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. He is also associate director of the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation, where as founder of Interfaith Legal Services he works with clergy and attorneys to organize free legal clinics throughout Ohio.

A specialist in the Hebrew Bible, ancient languages and ancient Egypt, Gary A. Rendsburg (“Beasts or Bugs?”) is the Paul and Berthe Hendrix Memorial Professor of Jewish Studies at Cornell University. He is co-author (with Cyrus H. Gordon) of The Bible and the Ancient Near East (W.W. Norton, 1997).

An expert on early Christianity and the Nag Hammadi Coptic Gnostic texts, Birger A. Pearson (“Parallel Paths to Heaven”) is professor emeritus of religious studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His books include The Emergence of the Christian Religion (Trinity Press International, 1997).
