Bread—that basic staple common to peoples across space and time—is the focus of this new exhibit in Jerusalem. Featuring a variety of ceremonial breads and baking utensils, as well as multimedia documentation of bread’s important role in daily and ritual life, this exhibit takes a close look at the symbolic, liturgical and cultural significance of bread in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities. Biblical and literary texts, illustrated manuscripts and contemporary works of art will also help illuminate the subject.
