Strata: New Editor Named for Anchor Bible Series

When Yale University Press recently acquired and relaunched the prestigious Anchor Bible Series (formerly of Doubleday) as the Anchor Yale Bible Series, it did so with Professor John J. Collins at the helm as general editor.
The series, which has grown to more than 115 volumes, was established in 1956 by the great William Foxwell Albright and was subsequently guided for the past 50 years by the preeminent Biblical scholar David Noel Freedman, who passed away in April 2008.
Collins, the Holmes Professor of Old Testament Criticism and Interpretation at Yale Divinity School, has written or edited countless books and journal articles. According to Collins, he and Yale University Press intend to honor and continue the great tradition of scholarship embodied in the Anchor Bible Series “while also exploring some new directions, to meet the needs of the 21st century.”
