David Ussishkin (“Jezreel: Where Jezebel Was Thrown to the Dogs) is professor emeritus of archaeology at Tel Aviv University. He directed the excavations at Lachish for more than 20 years, was codirector of the Jezreel excavation in the 1990s, and he currently codirects, with Israel Finkelstein, the Megiddo Expedition.

Marvin A. Sweeney (“The Nash Papyrus) is professor of religion at Claremont Graduate University and professor of Hebrew Bible at the Claremont School of Theology. He is the founding editor of the Review of Biblical Literature and the chief executive officer of the Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center for Preservation and Research. He is currently working on three new books: A Jewish Theology of the Bible, a systematic exposition of the Bible from a Jewish theological perspective, and commentaries on Ezekiel and Isaiah 40–66.
