Strata: BAR Scholarship Winners Help Dig Biblical Sites
This summer the trenches are once again filled with volunteers who have traveled to the Middle East to participate in archaeological excavations. BAR offered scholarships of $1,000 each to 23 qualified volunteers who would not otherwise have been able to participate.
This year’s dig scholarship winners were chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants. This group includes a diverse array of both undergraduate students and Ph.D. candidates, as well as several working professionals who wanted to get a taste of the life of an archaeologist. They were accepted to work at sites throughout Israel and Jordan.
On behalf of the scholarship winners, BAR offers our sincere thanks to the generous donors who made this year’s scholarship program possible:
Kenneth J. Bialkin, Esq.
George Blumenthal
Edward O. Boshell, Jr.
Lois and Richard England
Eugene and Emily Grant
Carol and John Merrill
Jonathan P. Rosen
Judy and Michael Steinhardt
Samuel D. Turner, Esq.
Jeffery Yablon, Esq.
