The Assyrian king Sennacherib decorated one of the rooms in his new palace at Nineveh with scenes of the conquest of Lachish, a major city in Judah. These reliefs offer much of our best existing imagery for the Israelite military during the time of the monarchy, including the use of the sling. For additional imagery and discussion, see Seevers, Old Testament Warfare (forthcoming).
