Strata: BAR Scholarship Winners Go Digging

This past summer, archaeological excavations throughout the Biblical world welcomed volunteers who donated their time, energy, skills and strength. Their tireless work in the trenches fueled the various digs. For the 2013 season, BAR awarded scholarships of $1,000 each to 23 qualified volunteers who would not otherwise have been able to participate.

This year’s winners were chosen from a pool of more than 140 applicants. The diverse group includes students—at both the undergraduate and graduate levels—who were accepted to dig at sites in Israel and Jordan.
