The Prophets as Revolutionaries

Martin A. Cohen (“The Prophets as Revolutionaries”) is a distinguished authority on Jewish history. Presently Professor of Jewish History at Hebrew Union College in New York, Cohen has edited three major sections on Sephardic studies for the new Encyclopedia Judaica. His most recent book is The Martyr (Jewish Publication Society, Philadelphia, 1973) which concerns the predicament of a secret Jew during the Mexican Inquisition in the 16th century.
Cohen has been a jogger for 35 years, currently running four to eight miles daily at the West Side YMCA near his office. He enjoys swimming and weightlifting, and used to play handball in college and the Air Force.
A past national chaplain of the American Veterans of World War II and Korea (AMVETS), Dr. Cohen is a provocative and wide-ranging scholar whose contributions to inter-faith understanding extend far beyond the classroom.
