Readers React to the Boycott of BAR Urged by Pastor Young

I confess complete and utter amazement at the letter of Pastor Gerald Young (Queries & Comments, BAR 16:05). I had to go back and check the picture that offended him because I also would be concerned if pornography were in BAR. However, if anything in that picture of Adam and Eve (“Polydactylism in the Ancient World,” BAR 16:03) strikes someone as pornographic, the problem is with the viewer and not the picture. (I still cannot believe his letter!)

I also am a Southern Baptist minister, and I, for one, do not want to be counted as one of Mr. Young’s ethical peers. I have given several subscriptions of BAR as gifts to ministry students in my church and I will continue to do so.
