Qimron did publish the results of his limited work, but, the editors of this volume tell us, “his readings are suspect at a number of points.” Moreover, since his readings are not annotated, “it is usually impossible, at critical junctures, to be certain why he has favoured one decipherment over another, or restored a lacuna as he has done.” Finally, his failure to include all the surviving fragments of a particular copy make his edition “incomplete.”
