It is presently on exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles and will travel to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, in Richmond, July 12–September 14; Cincinnati Art Museum, October 11–December 8; Detroit Institute of Arts, January 24–April 12, 1987; and end its tour at the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C., May 9–September 8, 1987.

These screens formed part of the Crusader lintels in the facade of the Holy Sepulchre church before it was damaged in a fire over a hundred years ago.

The ring was found in a Byzantine house near the Triple Gate and was originally dated to the sixth century A.D., a date that now seems clearly wrong.

The excavations were directed by Professor Benjamin Mazar of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, by whose kind permission the ring is published here.
