This article is based on studies of the subsistence patterns of the Jebeliyah Bedouins by Aviram Perevolotsky and of the Byzantine remains in the vicinity of St. Catherine’s Monastery by Israel Finkelstein. Both works were undertaken by the Tzakei David Field School of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (S.P.N.I).
