Strata: Update for Digs 2007

Some changes have occurred in the digs listing since the January/February issue. The deadline for BAS dig scholarship applications is now March 5, 2007.

The Yavneh Yam excavations will run from July 15 to August 10. Please contact Ilan Shachar ([email protected]) for information. The Apollonia-Arsuf excavation has decided to join the dig at Yavneh Yam led by director Moshe Fischer.

Professor Norman Golb of the University of Chicago recently criticized the Dead Sea Scroll exhibit at Seattle’s Pacific Science Center. Golb, a leading scholar of the Dead Sea Scrolls, called the exhibit one-sided and said it omitted “relevant information” and recent developments in the controversial debate about the origins of the scrolls, thus contradicting the Science Center’s mission to present a balanced, scientific exhibit.
